Irvine – The University of California Irvine (UCI) Extension, the continuing and professional education division of UC Irvine, announced today a new credit transfer agreement with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and its Distance Learning Center (www.GoUWP.com). The partnership gives UC Irvine Extension students the opportunity to turn certificate coursework into credits for UW-Platteville’s online Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) program.
“For many students the next step on their educational journey is to leverage certificates they earn toward a graduate degree. These partnerships provide a perfect way to do that,” said Dr. Cheryl Fuller, director of UW-Platteville’s master’s program in criminal justice.
UW-Platteville’s online MSCJ program is a comprehensive multidisciplinary degree designed for criminal justice and social service professionals who need additional knowledge and skills to advance to a higher-level position in their profession, have a desire to teach at a community college or university or seek an advanced degree as a prerequisite for entry into the criminal justice field.
Under the unique credit transfer agreement, coursework for UC Irvine Extension’s Information Systems Security Certificate can equal up to 9 online graduate credits, which is equivalent to three full-time courses in UW-Platteville’s MSCJ program. UW-Platteville fosters similar credit partnerships nationwide primarily through its online programs.
UW-Platteville, a pioneer in distance education, provides eight degrees entirely online: master’s degrees in organizational change leadership, project management, criminal justice, engineering, distance educational leadership and integrated supply chain management along with bachelor’s degrees in business administration and criminal justice.
